Superior Rooms

Our Superior Rooms are spacious and elegant – ideal for both leisure and business travellers and offer views of the hotel gardens, swimming pool or Table Mountain.

The rooms have a choice of twin or king sized beds. Guests can comfortably be entertained in a mini-lounge area and a writing desk, complete with stationery, is ideal for catching up on correspondence.

All rooms have an en-suite bathroom which vary in size depending on the location of the room; equipped with separate shower, bath, basin and lavatory. Bathroom amenities include a range of exclusive L'Occitane soap, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

The 99 Superior Rooms vary in size and are situated in The Oasis Wing, The Main Hotel and in Green Park. Inter-connecting rooms in Green Park are available on request.

Luxury Rooms

Our Luxury Rooms have an understated charm, complemented by modern luxury for the discerning traveller.

They are larger in size than Superior Rooms, with more spacious sitting areas. Luxury Rooms also offer a choice of twin or king-size beds with a view choice of our magnificent gardens, Table Mountain or a balcony overlooking a tinkling fountain courtyard.

As with our Superior Rooms, guests can comfortably be entertained in a mini-lounge area. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom which vary in size depending on the location of the room; equipped with a separate shower, bath, basin and lavatory.

The 45 Luxury Rooms vary in size and are located in The Main Hotel, Green Park and Taunton House. Interconnecting rooms are available on request in The Main Hotel and Green Park.

Disabled Rooms

The hotel has two purpose built Luxury Rooms to accommodate and meet the special needs of physically disabled guests. These rooms vary in size.

The bathrooms have been adapted with wider bathroom doors, a low sink & bath with handrails and open cupboards for easy access. The shower, with a movable showerhead, has been left open, with a chair for convenience.

These rooms are situated in Green Park and offer views overlooking a picturesque courtyard with fountain.

Junior Suites

For guests requiring more spacious accommodation, our Junior Suites comprise of a bedroom with a larger lounge area than our rooms. Some of the Junior Suites offer a separate lounge whilst others offer an open plan lounging area.

All rooms have an en-suite bathroom which vary in size depending on the location of the room; equipped with a separate shower, bath, basin and lavatory. Bathroom amenities include a range of exclusive L'Occitane soap, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

The 19 Junior Suites vary in size offer views of Table Mountain, the hotel gardens or a landscaped courtyard.

An option of twin or king-size beds are offered with views of either our beautifully landscaped gardens or Table Mountain.

Executive Suites

Our Executive Suites are grander and more distinctive than the Junior Suites, offering spacious open-plan lounges and dining areas.

With the option of twin or king-size beds and views of either Table Mountain or a courtyard fountain, all have private balconies with garden furniture. Selected suites also offer a kitchenette / wet bar with small microwave, hot plate, sink and general kitchen utensils. These Executive Suites are ideal for families travelling with small children.

All the suites feature newly renovated, luxurious marble bathrooms with walk-in dressing rooms. Bathroom amenities include a range of exclusive L'Occitane soap, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

Executive Suites are situated in Helmsley and Taunton House.

The Deluxe Suites offer twin or king-size beds with a seperate bedroom, living and dining area, a private courtyard and a balcony overlooking a picturesque courtyard with fountain or a private garden overlooking one of the swimming pools. A kitchenette / wet bar is provided with small microwave, washbasin and general kitchen utensils in selected suites.

All the suites offer luxurious marble bathrooms with walk-in dressing rooms. Bathroom amenities include a range of exclusive L'Occitane soap, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

Deluxe Suites are located in Helmsley, Hof Villa, Taunton House and the Garden Cottages.

Penthouse Suite

Situated on the top floor of the GreenPark accommodation wing, the luxurious Penthouse encompasses a stylish marbled entrance hall, guest toilet and cloakroom, a large lounge leading onto a private balcony with stunning views of Table Mountain, a private dining-room and master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The room also has a wet bar facility, complete with a microwave, stove, washbasin and general kitchen utensils.

Graham Viney's theme of soft hues and silky luxurious fabrics are evident throughout the suite; using white, cream and grey as the main colours, which take their cue from the hand painted panels of framed scenic wallpaper.

The 1930’s light fittings have exquisite baccarat crystal drops and the desk is the original Louis-style desk from the hotel’s lounge when it first opened in 1899. Mercury glass bedside lamps and a Venetian mirror complete the romantic and decadently lavish interior.

The Cape Colony is renowned for its food, prepared with an abundance of fresh local produce and tantalizing spices to surprise and delight the palate. Bistro-style al fresco dining is offered in the Oasis Restaurant, and famous Afternoon Teas are served daily in the Lounge. Our stylish bar, Planet, provides the perfect setting for sipping champagne and cocktails under the African night sky.

Afternoon Tea at the Mount Nelson Hotel

No visit to Cape Town is complete without experiencing Mount Nelson Hotel’s legendary Afternoon Tea. Famous foodies and travel writers the world over describe it as being one of the best afternoon tea experiences in the world.

Not for the faint of heart, the daily buffet is laid out on the Windsor Table in the hotel’s Lounge area and include old favourites like Black Forrest Gateau, Raspberry Vanilla Cream Cake, Madeleine’s, Rum balls and Smoked Salmon Choux Pastry Puffs.

New to the Windsor Table is a Gingerbread and Gianduja Cake; a Lemon Chiffon, Passion Fruit and White Chocolate Cake, and fresh from the oven savoury Empanadas with assorted fillings like Curried Mince, Lamb or Mushroom and Goats Cheese.

The hotel’s best loved Baked Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Éclairs, Coconut Ice, Battenberg’s, Mini Quiches and Finger Sandwiches with fillings ranging from Cucumber and Cream Cheese to Rare Roast Beef and Egg Mayonnaise still prevail – but there is a new emphasis on distinctive flavours, variety and innovation.

Graceful notes from the Grande Piano add to the ambiance, and a selection of over thirty of the finest loose leaf teas, from Rooibos and Lapsang Souchong, to Earl Grey and Darjeeling, completes the indulgence.

The Mount Nelson Hotel’s sparkling new Librisa Spa has become one of Cape Town’s leading day spas.

Directions

Directions to Mount Nelson Hotel from Cape Town International Airport: Proceed from the airport complex and continue in the direction of the N2 highway in the direction of City of Cape Town. Continue along the N2 highway until the M3 highway merges to form 5 lanes of traffic. Keep as far left as possible and proceed to follow De Waal Drive. Continue along De Waal Drive which winds its way along the foot of Table Mountain. As you pass under an overhead walkway, slow down as you need to turn left into Mill Street. Continue along Mill Street, pass the Gardens Shopping Centre on your left. Keep in the middle lane through two sets of traffic lights. Mill Street has now become Orange Street.
