Kasteelberg Country Inn & Bistro

This is your home too

Description

Six luxurious double rooms, all with their own character. All tastefully furnished to reflect the hospitality of the owners and of the Valley. With special touches that are meant to convey a simple message: this is your home too. Like giving you the choice of having freshly brewed coffee or tea, along with the newspaper served in your room when you wake up in the morning. Or arranging for an in-room massage. Or just creating the space for you to relax and do nothing.

A wine list that salutes local winemakers. In true French bistro style, our innovative and homely menu changes daily. It is uncomplicated and has been described by culinary connoisseurs as “homecooking with country flair”. Combine this with a lively pub where locals love to meet, and you’ll find yourself in one of the most unique and fun watering holes in the countryside.

Country Inn
A beautiful Cape Victorian homestead, built in 1911 right on the town square. With thick walls, high ceilings and Oregon pine floors. Carefully restored in 2002 and named after the fortress-like mountain that stands guard over the Valley, Kasteelberg Country Inn warmly captures the essence of a bygone era. Throughout your visit, the atmosphere that you will experience is one of genuine homeliness.

Open 7 days. With luxury accommodation, a lively pub and bistro with superb cuisine and a fireplace for cold winter nights, a serene garden with a pool for hot summer days, and welcoming service under personal management of Allan Barnard and Julien Debray.

“As we descended into this enchanting valley, passing olive groves on the way, we could sense that this was no ordinary place. We spent that afternoon lazing on the shady veranda. It was hot, but pleasantly so. Above us, bougainvilleas proudly showed off their abundant blooms as life in the village quietly went its own way. Somewhere in the background, Charles Aznavour reminisced about a love long lost. Up on a hill, the vines had lined up in neat rows, as if they were waiting to have their loads lightened after what must have been a hard, dry season. Amongst them, a windmill occasionally moaned as it tried to eke out a living with the help of a gentle breeze pushing to escape the merciless gaze of the sun.”
