On arriving at Olive Grove Guest Farm you will be surprised at the beauty that exists in this arid and dreary environment. This is a true oasis. The vast Mountain Vistas, Olive Orchards and Karoo country-side will impress on your heart that this is a land of enchantment. We are close enough off the N1 (only 10min. drive, 15km) and far enough so that your stay won t be affected by the continuous drone of vehicles on the N1. This is a working olive, sheep and game farm, where you are welcome to roam freely on 7000 ha, by walking, driving or mountain biking the various roads and paths.

You have the choice of self catering or meals by appointment in our restaurant. We are TGCSA 3 star graded for Self Catering and Country House category. We were a finalists in the AA Accomodation Awards 2004 and progressed to Highly Commended in the 2005 competition.

This is a reflection of the hospitality, cleanliness, safety, charisma, beauty and good value, bearing in mind that we were rated by our guests.

This desert supports over 200 recorded bird species and various species of large and small game. Fossils (+/-250 million years old) and starry skies will keep the enquiring mind racing.

Luxury Suites

These units are not self catering and are booked out on a bed and breakfast basis only.

Each suite has it's own entrance.

The units have lawn as frontage with garden furniture, ensuring relaxation overlooking the olive orchard and mountain vistas.

Sleep in comfort on queen-size beds with 1 additional single bed in each unit.

Linen and Towels (Including Swimming Towels) are provided.

The bathroom has a shower.

Stylish Chalets

Each unit has two bedrooms and a bathroom with bath/shower combination.

The main room has a double bed while the second room has 2 single beds.

A sleeper couch (in the lounge) is intended for the 5th and 6th person (recommended for young children only).

The Kitchen is fully equipped for catering. Crockery and cutlery, glassware, pots and pans, fridge with freezer, microwave, stove with oven, toaster among others.

Each unit has a lounge area with DSTV.

Each Chalet has a patch of lawn as frontage with views of the Olive Orchards and "Koppie" (rock outcrop), in the distance are the majestic Nuweveld Mountains. Garden furniture offers relaxation around the braai and chalet stoep.

Attractions

Remember if you look for nothing, you will find nothing, this "desert" supports over 200 recorded bird species, various species of large and small game. Fossils (+/- 250 million years old) and starry skies will keep the enquiring mind racing.

Game Our farm is 5800ha in extent and has a camp with Springbuck, Blesbuck, Kudu, Gemsbok and smaller buck. The farm also has Ostriches and plenty of Tortoises.

Birds: The large farm dam boasts a flock of about 20 Flamingoes in season. The bird life is prolific and just under 200 species have been recorded in our area.

Exploring: Guests who are 4x4 enthusiasts are welcome to explore our farm roads. Mountain bikes are also welcome. Informative walking trail - "Porcupine Trail" is complete with bird hide, beautiful scenery and a lot to learn about the Karoo vegetation and flora. The farm is littered with fossils, millions of years old, guests have already found and identified numerous pieces.

Day trips Oudshoorn is only 159km away with the Cango Caves, Ostrich show farms and the Meerkats. The beautiful Meiringspoort is 95km away. Guests can enjoy a picnic basket at one of the picnic sites, walk to the waterfall or take a refreshing swim in the pool below. The Swartberg Pass, know as a World Heritage Site, is still in it's original state, built by prisoners. The road is gravel and in a good condition with breathtaking beauty which is worth seeing - this can be combined with the trip to Meiringspoort. We are only 17km from the famous Karoo National Park, guests can enjoy a day visit or night drive and their fossils are but one attraction. The late Dr. Chris Barnard grew up in Beaufort West, there is a museum devoted to him. The town has a rich history with typical old houses, water furrows and pear trees also lining the streets. A picnic basket can be arranged at reception, filled with delicious treats to take along on your day trips.
