Here it is all about relaxation; in summer you can enjoy a refreshing drink or a light lunch alongside the swimming pool and during winter cuddle up under a blanket in front of the fireplace in the lounge, reading a book and enjoying a glass of sherry.

Soft candle light dinners are served in our stylishly decorated antique dining room, with its high beamed ceiling and terracotta floor. This cozy facility was created for you to enjoy a superb home-cooked country dinner - on request.

A hearty farm breakfast is served either on the patio overlooking the picturesque mountain scenes or in the dining room.

Nature is displayed here in all its glory. Beautiful nature scenes, spectacular mountain views, indigenous bird species and the sweet fragrance of delicate roses blooming in abundance around you.

The farm dam is surrounded by willows and hanging bird nests.

Children can enjoy the foefieslide (zip line) crossing the dam. The raft - taking them accross the water and back.

CROCODILE & WILDLIFE RANCH

The Cango Wildlife Ranch is perfect for a family outing. Guided tours are given daily around the premises. Learn more about the facts and fiction of the crocodiles, view elegant cheetahs and giggle at the antics of the Bengal tiger cubs.

For the adventurous they offer face to face encounters with wildlife in the Natural Encounters programe where you can touch a cheetah, enjoy the closeness of a tiger cub, wrap yourself in a python and even dive with Nile crocodiles.

CANGO CAVES

The Cango Caves is only one of the natural wonders of the Klein Karoo & Oudtshoorn. A underground jewel in the heart of the Swartberg Mountain Range. Experience true beauty as you explore the Cango Caves - crawl through narrow spaces and slide into a next chamber.

OSTRICH SHOW FARMS

Visit one of our three well known ostrich show farms the area. They offer you a complete ostrich package example:

SWARTBERG MOUNTAIN RANGE

This part is acknowledged as a World Herritage Site by the Cape Nature Conservation. The crest route will take you along the Swartberg Mountain Range for some 50km. At last 4x4ers can go to Hell! Not fire and brimstone, but Die Hel, also known as Gamkaskloof, deep in the Swartberg mountains.

MEERKATS

Grant M. Mc Ilrath - The Meerkat Man - has spent most of his life(currently over 12 years) studying wild meerkats / suricates in the field. He will be your guide on a Sunrise Tour in The Meerkat Magic Valley of The Meerkat Magic Project in Oudtshoorn, giving a Live Unedited Wildlife Documentary presentation with The Ungulungu WILD UNFED FREE ETHICALLY HABITUATED meerkat/suricate study group.
The Meerkat Magic Project is the only place in the world, where guests can get very close to this sub-species of the three recognised WILD meerkat / suricate sub-species without disturbing them with The Meerkat Man on a Sunrise and Sunset Tour!

LE ROUX TOWNHOUSE

The house was built in 1909, when Oudtshoorn was in the midst of the second Ostrich Feather Boom (1900 -1914). Money being no object, the brief for this Townhouse was that it be designed by one of Oudtshoorn's best-known architects, with the most modern innovations, and built with the best of imported and local materials.

The Le Roux Townhouse is situated in High Street, between Church and St Saviour Street.

SWARTBERG ADVENTURES

You will be amazed to know how much more exiting your trip to the Rus & Vrede Waterfall and The Hell(Gamkaskloof) will be, when travelling by quad bike. This is relaxed driving, suitable for all ages.
The trip to Rus & Vrede is a one day drip and Gamkaskloof is a overnight trip.
Also caving, abseiling, hiking and more.

C.P. NEL MUSEUM

In 1972 the CP Nel collection was brought to its present home - the former Oudtshoorn Boys' High School. As a result of this, the sandstone building, with its beautiful clock tower, was saved from demolition. The building as a whole dates back to the second "ostrich feather boom" (1900 - 1914) and was declared a National Monument in 1981.

Directions

Arriving from R62 in Oudtshoorn: Follow the main road that you enter Town with. At the third traffic light, turn left into Baron van Reede Street. Follow this road out of town. From the Cango Wildlife Ranch it is about 15km to Oue Werf Country House (Schoemanshoek). You have to turn left at the Cango Ostrich Show Farm. You will be driving towards the Schoemanshoek church. On the right hand side - before the church you will see the Oue Werf sign. Arriving from the N2 via Mossel Bay: The two roads connect to one another just before you enter Oudtshoorn. Follow the above directions. Arriving from the Garden Route via George: Stay on the main road that you enter the Town with, and follow this road straight through the town. You will pass 3 traffic lights. Follow this road out of town. From the Cango Wildlife Ranch it is about 15km to Oue Werf Country House (Schoemanshoek). You have to turn left at the Cango Ostrich Show Farm. You will be driving towards the Schoemanshoek church. On the right hand side - before the church you will see the Oue Werf sign.
