AttractionsIn the absence of grid power, enjoy quiet, romantic, candle-lit evenings away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. For those who just want to relax and unwind, laze at the pool, revel in the healthy Karoo air and make the most of the natural beauty of the surroundings. For the more active there is a Boule court. See harvesting and drying of apricots in season (November to December), or stretch your legs on one of the day hiking trails that are being developed on the farm. A short 4x4 track of approximately 7 km will provide hours of fun for the off-road enthusiasts, while plenty of opportunities exist for viewing the magnificent views from a mountain bike. The abundance of fauna and birdlife, and the meeting of two floral kingdoms lend themselves to many fascinating hours in the veld. Rietfontein Farm, located far away from the bright city lights that dim our fascinating night sky and in an area that experiences very little cloud-cover, is the ideal location for amateur astronomers to practice their art. The Little Karoo is known for its warm hospitality, charming towns and generous country cuisine and Rietfontein Guest Farm is the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding region. Visit Route 62, one of the longest wine routes in the world and stock up on fresh produce and local fare at one of the many farm stalls on the way. There are also several nature reserves and scenic mountain passes in the vicinity.
