Description

The terrace of the main building looks out onto the Drostdy estate where a flock of sheep, a living exhibit with an ancestry older than 3000 years, graze under the oak trees.
This is also the view from the oldest room named "The Stable".

 The poolcourt flows to the garden and the four garden rooms.

The garden, with its lush indigenous vegetation, enjoys vistas of the imposing Langeberg Mountains and affords privacy to the rooms.

At the top of Swellendam's main road, Voortrekker Street, you see the crown jewel of the towns' legendary, beautiful buildings: a breathtaking, perfectly maintained Georgian home.
As you continue you enter the core of the most historic of the Western Cape towns: The Drostdy Complex, once the seat of an independent republic. Behind the Drostdy Ilzebet Oosthuizen own and run a small hotel with the magical name of Roosje van de Kaap.
The main building of Roosje van de Kaap was once a part of the historic Drostdy. Here Ilzebet created a beautiful inn and an award winning restaurant.

As you enter the restaurant you are transported to an old world. The low reed ceiling, thick plastered walls and candlelit atmosphere all physically transport you to a bygone era of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Ilzebet is in control of the kitchen, where an eclectic menu is prepared, representing a variety of cooking disciplines, from Cape Malay fare to classic French reductions.
